What The Prestige is very well recreate a period in the history of show business at the turn of the century, when competition between magicians was serious and intense. The complex illusions work beautifully brought to life through detailed intelligent device, copy the actual mechanisms of Victorian legerdemain. Much of the film rings very true, as devouring obsessions of leading figures to be the best and outperform all others. Its easy steps to accept that such a spill unwavering determination deadly territory that rival magicians suave Rupert Angier (a riveting performance by Hugh Jackman) and Alfred Borden fat (Christian Bale plays effortlessly a brooding Brit lower class) each seek to sow more revenge on the other.The story, though adapted from a novel, feels like an ideal solution for the feelings of director Nolan when the machinations of the 'Both men are increasingly complex in a tug back and forth spirits that keep you guessing about the style of Nolan's Memento. As the game becomes more deadly, and threatens to destroy all the love, the film is a fascinating study in the unique work mindedness.The is epic in sweep, beautifully filmed, and heavily traded. The only odd note in the cast is David Bowie as Nikola Tesla (there is nothing like the real Tesla, if you care about such things, and his appearance draws attention to itself as a superstar cast often bark, r), but Mr. Bowie holds his own. Solid performance all around, with Michael Caine adds dignity and depth that the old master, Scarlett Johanssen and as assistant beautiful scene becomes the third point in a twisted love triangle, and even Andy Serkis (Gollum!) in a memorable introduction role.The support Tesla adds another twist when the film is real-but-possible illusion of the stage for the steam Punkish science fiction.
