Review:
A sleepy movie can not decide if this is a spy movie, a horror flick, or film noir. John Cusack has two expressions, which he distributes randomly. Management female character is an odd combination of talented, skilled and knowledgeable clich? The helplessness of classification that is so old fashioned its ridiculous. Malin Ackerman is OK on the alert, able to wring out a little bit of sympathy for his character, but to me it is mixed with frustration he has a stronger character to work with. Liam Cunningham just called this. I have some hope after the start, outlining the contours of a possible interesting variations on familiar jaded-spy-with-revelation, rebirth - Saving the World script, but the murkiness, un-engaging and weak flashbackiness staged action followed. Its hard, but not in a good way, and quite, quite humorless. Confusing sequence does not want to see it two or three times to learn it, you know you like it because it's not good, not because it's something more there. The plot is barely visible, and the action is not enough to matter. It is possible to create a tense, interesting and film speed set in the limited space-alien comes to mind, but this is not one of them.
