Description:
Feds try to take down notorious American gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd booming crime wave in the 1930s.
Review:
Who was John Dillinger? We all know he was a flamboyant criminal who robbed a bank, but who was he? The question of who was Dillinger's much more interesting than the question of what Dillinger did, but this movie, but only chose to focus seriously on the second and gave up almost island Instead of former. This film goes out of its way - with a poor grasp of time-line of the story, by the way - to show us what Dillinger did and who he hung around with, but there is almost nothing to check that Dillinger was as a person or even as a criminal. This suggests that Dillinger could be passionate lover and faithful friend, but gives us a document other than a few cast-together seduction scenes (which does his girlfriend / heroine as small-witted pushover) and awkward love scene.Even Dillingers film, Melvin Purvis, is puzzling in ; handed people. Does he care about justice at all, or was he just fascists on their crusade? He was competent in the slightest, or was he just a bumbling fool? Squinty-eyed stare can only move so much after all.Michael Mann seems to be in a terrible hurry to tell this story as he is stuck between a rock ; required to connect fairly complete crime ography of the notorious American gangster and a hard place to keep the image less than 2 1/2 hours. As Therefore, beautifully shot and change the image that had , i lot of promise ends a little more than silly, shoot-em-up action movie wearing a fedora on historical romance. Good for a date but not a serious film.Grade: C +. Things to look for: Ham-handed and ridiculously obvious political Mann commented on the use of torture by two thirds of the way through the movie, psychotic trigger-happy Baby Face Nelson well played by Stephen Graham, fat old products (Zenth radio), great fashion sense.
