Review: Shutter Island. A film that divide the film community. A film that will leave a lot of anger, and hostility. A film that is completely divided critics. A film that messes with you. And no one out there want to mess with. And that is exactly where it is exceeded. Think Im contradict itself? Shutter Island is a psychological thriller one of the most well made come from the silence of the lambs. And it is no coincidence that both brilliantly written novel. Shutter Island was adapted by a book written by Dennis Lehane (wrote Go baby, go and Mystic River). It is a book full of twists and turns, that will leave the reader dizzy. And, that's what the film is not fully co. Martin Scorsese helm chair the director, the film in which he is more free than ever before. This is Scorsese his most restrained. Marty took what he had learned from the great movies of the past and put it toward him. Master of suspense Alfred Hitchcocks influence wherever you look in the film. And this is not surprising, given Scorsese even one of his greatest performances for the crew: dizziness. And many of the ideas in Shutter Island, Cliff Hitchcock scene scream. This is a movie that creep and crawl, and full of dark corners. And all of this is reinforced with a looming storm on the island. This is a classic film noir. The story follows Teddy, Federal Marshall, and his partner Chuck (played by DiCaprio and Ruffulo). They went to the island to investigate the mysterious fog shrouded without brakes. From the opening scene, Marty has set a dark and creepy premise. Almost the entire movie combines story as Teddy desperately tries to find the truth he aims. Teddy is shown as a man fear, a man of war and violence as portrayed in various flashbacks. It continues to be becoming important as the story progresses. We follow Teddy on his search through every dark alley and dangerous confrontation. Slowly, we were given a piece of the puzzle, but the audience will not even notice. For us, like Teddy, blind. For now at least. It is because of this thrilling conclusion will leave much of a surprise. But, you see, that is where this thriller into something more. We as the audience are placed in shoes Teddys, and we feel everything she feels. It is a complete assault on the Senses, and it worked beautifully. This is a movie you have to watch carefully. That is another thing that sets it apart, it's a horror movie that makes you really think. In this day and age, I'm not surprised find some horrible esp. After their brains turned to mush by the new gore filled horror movie. Scorseses main goal here is to wake you up. And believe me, you probably will not like it. It is also a film that I would recommend seeing a second time. In fact, even better the second time. All the pieces of the puzzle that does not catch the first time, you will be the same. You see, we as the audience are first put into the shoes of Teddy. The same? Well, without giving too much away, lets just say you put in someones elses shoes completely for a second look. Shutter Island. A film that would make you question your own sanity. A film that will leave you breathless. A film that re-ignited the thriller genre. A film that builds up, and the main character, looking for answers. 10 of 10 CLS
